I've used A Conversation Book 1 (3rd Edition) with beginning learners and found it to be engaging. It has a wide variety of topics about daily life, colorful illustrations, and a good mix of activities to stimulate thinking and conversation in small or large groups. The activities seem well-designed to build vocabulary and practice simple language patterns. Interesting games are suggested for applying the concepts.

The web site: http://iteslj.org/questions/<http://iteslj.org/questions/> has a lot of good conversation starters. I don't know exactly what you are looking for in terms of grammar or vocabulary. But this link has lots of conversation topics to get the conversation rolling. The best part is that it is free!

I hope that helps!

Could anyone recommend a great resource to use in an ESL conversation group? There are numerous ones available, and with a limit on spending, we'd like to make the best choice possible. Some of the ones we've seen advertized but not reviewed follow.

Thank you.
