Hi Emma: PBS ran the program again tonight, and we just watched it. Amazing! I am embarrassed to acknowledge we did not know about Abdul Rahman Ibrahima Sori before watching the documentary. Here is an article from Time.com which provides some really interesting background. http://www.time.com/time/arts/article/0,8599,1709229,00.html?xid=rss-arts It turns out that the book, on which the program is based, was written in 1977! Our team will definitely produce a story about this. Isn't the Internet a marvelous way to communicate? THANKS, Emma, for alerting us to this terrific program. Best regards, Carole >>> Ebourassa at tru.ca 02/05/08 4:02 PM >>> Carole, I watched a fascinating program on PBS last night about an African Prince from Timbuctu who was a slave for 40 years, then gained support to get freedom and head back to Africa. Is this something in your repertoire? I believe the title was The Prince- I just caught it part way in. It was a different kind of story which I thoroughly enjoyed. e Emma Bourassa English as a Second or Additional Language/ Teaching English as a Second Language Instructor ESAL Department Thompson Rivers University 900 McGill Road.
