For the PACT period in the prison....I have a lot of experience there.
We had age appropriate toys and the men learned how to use them before
the children came. ( Before we bought them, I scrounged them from
children I knew and from libraries that have toy lending) The men drew
coloring pages and we had crayons available. Areas are important...ie. a
table for art (can include the 99 cent store paint and plain paper, but
father is in charge of seeing things are in the right place),,,,a rug
for books (or a blanket) and the books stay in that area....clay...(have
a table with a few trays and what they make stays on
trays)....snacks...the men can make it before hand or they can make a
snack with their child (no bake cookies, frost a cookie (no
cupcakes...too many crumbs) Singing. Teach the guys songs and have them
sing them to their kids! PACT should be run through before it happens to
be successful with the adult (in my experience)

Please feel free to e mail me at arconn at juno.com for more suggestions.
