Canadians Celebrate ABC Canada Family Literacy Day

Today our neighbors to the north celebrate Family Literacy Day.
Renowned Canadian children's author Robert Munsch will talk to his
avid young fans across the country in a live online hook-up through
www.YTV.com. The event, to be held 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. ET, is one of
thousands of activities and special events happening throughout
Canada to celebrate ABC CANADA Family Literacy Day™. http://www.abc-
canada.org/fld/

Events scheduled across the country include:

- "Raising a Reader" workshops

- "Words on Wheels" challenges residents to fill a truck with new
and gently used children's books. The books will be placed in public
and school libraries, and childcare centers.

- public libraries will host storytelling sessions

- "Snuggle Up and Read" is a Hamilton, ON, citywide family pajama
party with storytelling events scheduled at venues such as public
libraries, children's hospital wards, and schools.

- In Calgary, the public library will launch the National Film
Board of Canada's family literacy kit, "Let's All Read Together."
