[FamilyLiteracy] Sharing issues, ideas, questions & knowledgeGail Price gprice at famlit.orgFri Feb 17 07:46:17 EST 2006
Deborah, Thank you for your suggestion. Actually, we are hoping to host a discussion around ESL teaching strategies and curriculum since more and more family literacy programs are enrolling English language learner families. We all are looking for the best ways to provide the most effective services we can to these families. Hopefully, we can arrange something for the spring. I will keep you posted. Did you know that the Adult English Language Learner Discussion List has just had a discussion with Sarah Young concerning adolescent learners in adult ESL/ESOL classes? You can read the postings on their archives at http://www.nifl.gov/lincs/discussions/ list_archives.html Currently, the Focus on Basics Discussion List is having a discussion with Robin Schwartz about Struggling ESOL Learners. Robin is a longtime LD specialist, researcher and ESOL tutor. Her article can be found at http://www.ncsall.net/index.php?id=994. If you are not subscribed to these Discussion Lists visit http:// www.nifl.gov/lincs/discussions/discussions.html and click on the list you would like to subscribe to. In the meantime, let's hear from other list members: What are your thoughts on ESL teaching strategies and curriculum? What have you found that works best in your particular situation?
