And, even if he is, there needs to be a person with whom he can be in contact, to support him, and for him to be able to contact with questions, and for generally assistance as needed. Whether or not he has a reading disability (which could be the case), he¹ll need support in his learning. Ideally, a combination of one on one tutoring someone who can learn his interests and strengths and build content from that as well as time in an appropriate class, so that he might not feel so isolated, would be great, if there were time for him to do this and the appropriate classroom opportunity available. Regardless of an official¹ diagnosis of a learning disability, there are strategies to help him learn. If you haven¹t already, you might want to browse over some of the conversation on the Focus on Basics list with Robin Schwarz, where a number of parallel questions and issues were discussed. http://www.nifl.gov/pipermail/focusonbasics/2006/date.html Janet Isserlis I am advocating for a 29 yr old man who thinks he cannot learn to read any better than he does. This man has tested with a high I Q in childhood and makes a good living with his hands as an adult. He feels that he must live with card that life has dealt him and says that he has tried many programs but cannot succeed . He has agreed to one more try...perhaps an on line course or tutor. Thanking you in advance for your replies. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
