  I showed him all the e mails I received in response to mine and he read them with interest.  I was surprised at how well he did so. He tells me his problem is more with writing and spelling which gives him  severe social anxiety. While reading the e mails he had a problem with the word conference and could not sound out the last syllable. I am guessing this means his reading level is just below 6Th grade.  He has cooked in many restaurants and yet says that it will take him a long time to memorize the menus. He feels he is dyslexic and may have ADD.  He was in special ed and had some GED classes. He did not finish High School.

Dear Angela,

Your young man can easily be taught to read at a quite high level, at least 
as high as his vocabulary and life experience can bring him. If he lives 
anywhere close to Flint, Michigan, I will demonstrate to him that he can learn 
rapidly. No charge. I will also train whoever volunteers to be his tutor 
(wife or significant other would be my suggestion) and for no charge.

spelling.org. We even have a free video you can show your young man just what 
I will do in the very first session. I'll get him to read the word 
malicious that first time I write it down.
