[FamilyLiteracy 480] Re: Meeting your needsMary Jane Jerde mjjerdems at yahoo.comFri Dec 29 14:18:01 EST 2006
I need some framework for teaching phonics/spelling to my adult ed ESL students. Is there someplace that lists all the phonics rules? Notebooks with pages set aside for the various sounds from the IPA with spelling families listed under each is helpful. (Green: ee family, ei family, ie family, e-e family, etc.) The students really appreciated it, but it lacked a full structure. The closest that I've found is some tantalizing material by Camilia Sadik at the website: http://www.spellingrules.com/understand/index.htm The listed e-mail address is no longer active. The book is not in print and unavailable on Amazon.com. Any suggestions? If you could take a few minutes in the next couple of weeks to think about my questions, I would appreciate your feedback by January 12. You can respond to the list as a whole or to me off-list.
