Dana, Lisa Murphy's book does sound like a possible resource for those working in children's education. Thank you for making us aware of it. She has aligned Indiana Kindergarten Standards, Foundations for Early Learning, Early Childhood Environmental Scale, and Desired Results for Children and Families ( she has done this for several other states also) with appropriate play activities--which is hands on with real objects which is appropriate for early learning. The title refers to how you answer the comments and questions about the fact that "thechildren are just playing and not learning anything". It has allowed many of my teachers to do what they know is right with confidence because they can easily answer those comments and educate while doing so. Any kindergarten teacher who has had occasion to borrow my book has gotten one for themselves. Lisa Murphy also does marvelous, high energy, motivating workshops. Many people in our area know about her, but I thought I would share this as a possible resource. Dana Newingham Gail J. Price Multimedia Specialist National Center for Family Literacy 325 W.
