Even though most of our nation will be watching basketball this weekend,
I thought you might enjoy this Interesting story about the Settle
Mariners' baseball team.

Here's a unique way to raise funds for family literacy.

The Seattle Mariners will donate $100 for each run batted by a Mariner
to Page Ahead, a statewide children's literacy program. Read more at

Page Ahead serves children from birth to age 12 who are considered to be
at risk: those who receive free lunches or live below the federal
poverty line, receive English language tutoring, or read below grade
level. By working with at-risk children early in their learning process,
Page Ahead helps them build strong reading skills and avoid the problems
created by illiteracy. Read more at http://www.pageahead.org/index.php

What are some ways your program is raising funds?
