The following snippet is from The County Press, a newspaper in Lapeer
County, Michigan. This is a fun story about an event held by their
family literacy center to raise money. I wish they had included pictures
of the "camels."

ANNUAL CAMEL RACES BENEFIT FAMILY LITERACY CENTER'S MISSION

A mixed field of contestants were featured at last Friday's Camel Races,
which benefitted the Family Literacy Center.



Some of the featured camels at the Oct. 19 event included an angel, a
cowboy, a police officer, a frog, a zebra, the late rocker Jimi Hendrix,
a hospital patient, an eagle, a queen, a ballerina, a witch, two
politicians, a rabbit, and a sailor.



Sponsors rooted their camels on during the races and placed bets.
