ESOL instructors—Staten Island, NYC
2 full time positions beginning in January, 2008

Make the Road NY is seeking two full time ESOL teachers to work at
our Port Richmond, SI office with primarily Mexican day laborers and
their family members. The FT positions would require 4 nights of
teaching but shorter, more flexible day hours during the week for
prep and administrative work and professional development. Bilingual
(Spanish/English) candidates who live on S.I. are strongly
preferred. Those who live off island would be reimbursed for bridge
tolls. We are seeking creative, independent, and highly organized
instructors with at least 2 years of experience. Formal teacher
training of some kind preferable. Teachers should be committed to
teaching all the skills of language acquisition with a thematic
approach. Preference also given to those who have a demonstrated
commitment to social justice. Salary starts between $35 and $40K and
the positions come with excellent benefits.
