Good morning, everyone,

Just about a month ago, we had a great discussion on comprehension
monitoring strategies. In case you missed it or would like to jog your
memory a little about what was discussed, you can review the posts in
the archives at
http://www.nifl.gov/lincs/discussions/list_archives.html

Now that you have had time to think about, digest, and implement the
practices discussed, please share with me and other members of the list
what you took away from the comprehension monitoring strategies
discussion. How has what you heard and learned affected what you do in
your classroom and how has it impacted your students?

I would like to throw the following questions out to you for your
response.

* How have you used what you gained from the discussion in your
work with students?

* Have you introduced or reinforced any of the strategies that
were discussed (coding text, read alouds, etc.) in your classroom?

* If so, how have your students responded? Have they become more
aware of their comprehension "breakdowns" when they are reading?

* Are your students using the tools-coding text, read alouds,
etc.-that you have given them?

* Have you become more aware of your own comprehension
monitoring strategies?

Your experiences are valuable to others, so please let us hear from you.
