Some of you may be interested in the following announcement. 325 West Main Street, Suite 300 Louisville, KY 40202-4237 (502)584-1133 ● www.famlit.org 4/3/2008 Position Announcement: Early Childhood Training Specialist The National Center for Family Literacy, a private, nonprofit organization located in Louisville, Kentucky, is seeking a candidate to fill the position of Early Childhood Training Specialist. This position requires excellent presentation and written communication skills, problem solving, teamwork and flexibility. Extensive travel is involved and candidate must relocate to the Louisville, Kentucky area. Skills in content development and organization are necessary to meet the challenge of this position. Applicants should describe their experience in areas related to early childhood and family literacy; working with preschoolers; developmentally appropriate practices; literacy development; parent education; diverse populations; authentic assessment; collaboration; teamwork. This position reports to the director of a project funded by the Bureau of Indian Education. Skills/Qualifications Required: Abilities and experience in delivering high quality professional development, including training and technical assistance, and in developing related written materials. A bachelor’s degree or higher with specialization in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field, and in-depth knowledge of critical content. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in teaching young children in a family literacy or early childhood program. Proven experience in planning and conducting professional development, writing for diverse audiences, and collaboration with varied professional groups. Must relate well to both children and adults of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. Must work as a team member to develop the full potential of all program participants, treat each child, parent, and co-worker with dignity and respect. Must be committed to diversity and able to appreciate multiple perspectives to build consensus on difficult issues.
