font-family:Arial'>The National Writing Project newsletter has an announcement for
an early literacy activity book, that is in both Spanish and English and that
encourages preschool-age children to express their ideas about themselves,
their families and the places they live. The announcement came out in June, so some
of you may have received copies already. <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
<p style='background:white'><font size=2 face=Verdana><span lang=EN
style='font-size:9.5pt;font-family:Verdana'>The book, published collaboratively
by the National Writing Project in conjunction with the <a
href="http://www.writingcommission.org/"><font color=black><span
style='color:windowtext;text-decoration:none'>College Board's National
Commission on Writing</span></font></a> and <a href="http://www.rif.org/"><font
color=black><span style='color:windowtext;text-decoration:none'>Reading Is
Fundamental (RIF)</span></font></a>, was to be distributed last summer. The
first printing of 50,000 copies of <i><span style='font-style:italic'>Our Book
by Us!/Nuestro Libro ¡Hecho por Nosotros!</span></i> was distributed through
NWP sites and to children in <a href="http://www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/ohs/"><font
color=black><span style='color:windowtext;text-decoration:none'>Head Start</span></font></a>
and other early learning programs served by <st1:place w:st="on">RIF</st1:place>.
Each of NWP's 200 sites was scheduled to receive five copies and sites may <a
href="mailto:siteresources@nwp.org"><font color=black><span style='color:windowtext;
text-decoration:none'>request up to 40 additional copies</span></font></a>. The
books are environmentally friendly, printed with soy ink on recycled paper. You

color=black><span style='color:windowtext;text-decoration:none'>download an
