Hello Julie and list subscribers,
I'm Don Finn from Richmond, Virginia. I have been a member of the FOB
list for several years now, although I've mainly been a "silent" member. I
appreciate this list and the interactions of adult ed professionals from
across the country. I was the Field Services Coordinator for the Virginia
Adult Learning Resource Center (based at Virginia Commonwealth University)
for three years and I used FOB in my practice quite regularly. I used
this resource for sharing best practices in adult ed with those in the
field and for designing trainings and workshops for teachers and
administrators. I appreciate the richness of the research findings and
the instructional methods used by those in the field that are highlighted
in FOB.
In my current position, I design and develop workshops, trainings, and
publications for college and university faculty for effectively working
with diverse students. I often find myself searching editions of FOB for
tips and tricks to incorporate into my trainings because some of the
issues in the postsecondary setting are the same as in adult ed. I have
a Ph.D. in Adult Education and Human Resource Development and do
consulting work with adult ed projects often having to do with effective
instructional methods and practices in adult education.
What I hope to continue to gain from being a part if this list is staying
current on issues and best practices in adult education.
