[FocusOnBasics] Finding Things in FOB

Thanks for the intro, Donald.

You mentioned searching FOB for tips and tricks to incorporate into training. I bet that many list subscribers do the same thing: look through FOB for ideas or potential hand outs to use in trainings.

Consider this an invitation to turn to the FOB list for help with that. Just post a question, for example "I'm doing a workshop on XXX. Is there anything in FOB on that?"
Then I'll be able to put my skills as a human index of 8 years of FOB to good use!
(FOB is mechanically indexed on the NCSALL web site, but our index terms and the way you've conceptualized your workshop might not jive. See http://www.ncsall.net/index.php?id=38 for the index)

Hello Julie and list subscribers,

I'm Don Finn from Richmond, Virginia.?I have been a member of the FOB list for several years now, althoughI've mainly been a "silent" member. ?I appreciate this listand the interactions of adult ed professionals from across the country.?I was the Field Services Coordinator for the Virginia Adult LearningResource Center (based at Virginia Commonwealth University) for three yearsand I used FOB in my practice quite regularly. ?I used this resourcefor sharing best practices in adult ed with those in the field and fordesigning trainings and workshops for teachers and administrators. ?Iappreciate the richness of the research findings and the instructionalmethods used by those in the field that are highlighted in FOB. ?

In my current position, I design anddevelop workshops, trainings, and publications for college and universityfaculty for effectively working with diverse students. ?I often findmyself searching editions of FOB for tips and tricks to incorporate intomy trainings because some of the issues in the postsecondary setting arethe same as in adult ed. ? I have a Ph.D. in Adult Education and HumanResource Development and do consulting work with adult ed projects oftenhaving to do with effective instructional methods and practices in adulteducation.

What I hope to continue to gain frombeing a part if this list is staying current on issues and best practicesin adult education.
