I use elements of the WJIII Tests of Achievement (Word ID, Word Attack,
Spelling of Sounds, Sound Awareness) to get a baseline functioning level with low
level readers. However, these tests do not necessarily allow for progress to
be measured, when re-testing after a year of tutoring in a structured,
phonics-based literacy program.
