Focus on Basics, and the Adult Numeracy Network's newsletter, were two
staples in my life as a teacher. I became a better teacher because of
them, because of easier access to research - which I craved because I
sensed that I couldn't just teach based on my hunches and whims. I found
my instinctual methods sometimes validated, sometimes challenged, by
what I learned from these publications.
As a program administrator, I still avidly rely on easy-to-access
research such as FOB has provided, in my desire to help provide quality
professional development and to use research to make solid decisions
about program development and improvement.
Thanks to everyone who has facilitated Focus on Basics.
