The first course,<B> Creating Engaging ESOL Activities Using Computers I, will begin February 11</B>. (Please note - the fall offering of this course filled within a week, so please register early if you're interested in participating.)</FONT></P>

<BR><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">Good news! Research shows that interesting, engaging learning activities using productivity software increases students' motivation and helps them learn English for all the reasons they come to our classes. In addition, it's a fact that more and more jobs require computer skills. Students who can use computers effectively expand their career options in countless ways. </FONT></P>
<P><FONT COLOR="#000000" SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">Through this course, you will integrate computer software into your ESOL instruction. You'll identify the steps necessary to incorporate computer software applications into lesson plans, including analyzing specific language and computer skills. You will finish the course having developed, tested, and refined a learning activity for your own classroom.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT COLOR="#000000" SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">You will: </FONT>
<BR><FONT COLOR="#000000" SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">1. Describe the benefits and challenges of using word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software in ESOL instruction. </FONT></P>
<P><FONT COLOR="#000000" SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">2. Evaluate student use of productivity software</FONT>
<BR><FONT COLOR="#000000" SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">3. Analyze learning activities for language and computer skills</FONT>
<BR><FONT COLOR="#000000" SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">4. Convert a classroom activity to one that includes productivity software, test it with students, and evaluate the activity</FONT></P>
