Hi Everyone,
As flu season is here, I was wondering whether any of you have heard about initiatives referring to the flu as "influenza" because people are confusing the word 'flu' with 'stomach flu' because 'stomach flu' is a bit of a misnomer?
Somebody in our health region asked me about this, and I have to admit, I have never heard of this before. Is this something new? Do any of you know anything about anything similar??
I am tempted to say that we refer to the vaccine as a "flu shot", not an "influenza shot", and lots of government information refers to it as "flu".
Does anybody have any thoughts about this?
