Hi Yael
You may want to consider the Medical Library Association's online tutorial on health information literacy, for health care professionals, called Prescription for Information: Addressing Health Information Literacy<http://www.mlanet.org/resources/healthlit/index.html?focus_20090625>. It's a "health literacy 101" course for health care providers. It explains the prevalence of low literacy, its clinical impact, and the challenges low-literacy patients face when they seek care or give consent. The tutorial uses text, discussion threads, interactive exercises and video clips, including a compelling clip of lower-literacy patients discussing their experiences. It lists recommended consumer health websites and teaches techniques that HCPs can use to ensure lower-literacy patients understand their condition and treatment.
You can view the free tutorial here: http://www.mlanet.org/resources/healthlit/index.html?focus_20090625

Subject: [HealthLiteracy 3647] looking for a health literacy 101 webinar for clinical staff
Hi Everyone,
In moving our health literacy work forward, I am searching for some sort of video, webinar training, etc. that goes over health literacy 101. It will become something mandatory for all of our clinical staff at a network of 9 community-based health centers. While I would ideally like to do an interactive training with all staff, pulling them away from clinic time is not feasible. Any ideas? Anyone willing to talk off line who has been through this before?
Thanks so much,
