Books, Films and TV Videos that Inspire Teachers
Colleagues,
Recently on the Professional Development and the Poverty, Race and Women
electronic lists there has been a discussion that was prompted by this question:
"I was asked today for a recommendation of a movie or book (such as 'Stand
and Deliver') that would inspire teachers to have high expectations for their
young adult students, to give 100% each day to their teaching. What would you
recommend?"
The list of recommended books, films and TV videos now numbers more than 30,
and is accompanied by an archive of the discussions from both lists. If you
would like to see this -- and add your own thoughts and recommendations --
it's on the Adult Literacy Education Wiki, in the Professional development
area:

Books_and_Films_which_Inspire_Teachers
or, for a short form of the URL,
_http://tinyurl.com/yj2w6s_ (http://tinyurl.com/yj2w6s)
I hope you will share the list with your teaching colleagues. I think the
recommendations -- and some of the comments from the discussion
-- might make a great article for a state adult education newsletter.
