My recommendations are the following: Gerber, P.J. & Reiff, H.B. (1994). Learning Disabilities in Adulthood. Stoneham, Massachusetts: Butterworth-Heinemann. Johnson, D.J. & Blalock, J.W. (1987). Adults with Learning Disabilities Clinical Studies. Orlando, Florida: Grune & Stratton, Inc. While they are a few years old -- they are classics and have stood the test of time. The Johnson/Blalock book is the one that actually convinced me to work in this field and ignited a passion that have never died. Nancie Payne om: -------------- Hi all, I received a request from an undergraduate student asking for a recommendation of a textbook she could read that would cover the basics on Learning Disabilities. She has a family member with suspected, yet undiagnosed learning disabilities. She wants more than a few articles and doesn't want to complete online training. She thinks that possibly a career in teaching LD might be ahead for her and wants to begin reading a scholarly text on her own time. Do you have any good recommendations? If those of you that teach at the undergraduate or graduate level can suggest some titles and authors, I will forward this on to her. Recommendations for all others will be gratefully appreciated as well.
