Ann, Before you actually purchase "Reading Horizons", please check out "My Reading Coach". I attended a vendor's session promoting "My Reading Coach" at the Florida Literacy Coalition conference in May and was VERY impressed. I like it better than "Reading Horizons" as it has a more thorough assessment component. It offers a pretest that ensures that a student is assigned lessons that target only what the student needs. It also provides a reading specialist and speech pathologist who pronounces the sounds for every student. Each student is given unique, specific feedback based on his or her responses. It monitors comprehension through literal and inferential questions. Embedded Teacher Intelligence individualizes instruction to help each student reach grade level. They guarantee at least 10-30% increase in comprehension after 50 hours of instruction or your money back.

We have been using S.O.S. (Strategies for Older Students) by Lexia. We like it, but I am really anxious to try "My Reading Coach". We need to find resources to purchase it.

Go to www.mindplay.com for a demonstration of "My Reading Coach".

Our Adult Literacy program is currently trying out a new program Reading Horizons, it is very phonic based and gets into everything. YOu can view an example of this at the following site it is a free online training...www.phonicstraining.com
good for 30 days once you log on.

Another program we use is Strategies for Older Students

I hope this helps.
