Hello Katherine and others who want to help by filling out the survey, First, thank you for caring enough to make the effort to complete the survey! I think the problem may be that you have clicked on the link on the first page of the survey that says "click here" rather than the red rectangular button that says "Begin." Please try this from your computer: Go to the beginning survey page at http://mercury.educ.kent.edu/lincs/lincs.cfm. Click the red rectangular button that says "Begin" located toward the bottom of that page. If clicking the "Begin" button doesn't take you to the page of the actual survey where you start filling in information, please reply to me and tell me what browser you are using. We tested the "Begin" button link with several different browsers trying to recreate your difficulty, but they all sent the user to the right place. We really want to be sure you get a chance to fill in the survey and we need to solve this problem. It will help us a lot if you can bear with us and provide us with any other clues you have. Thank you for letting us know that there is a problem! Don't think you are the only person who has had this trouble! I wish we had initially positioned the buttons in a way to keep from confusing those who are trying to take the survey. Hindsight is better than foresight! Thank you for your interest and perseverance! Please feel free to contact me again if you still have difficulty. Where do we get that? -----Original Message----- From: learningdisabilities-bounces at nifl.gov [mailto:learningdisabilities-bounces at nifl.gov]On Behalf Of RKenyon721 at aol.com Sent: Thursday, September 27, 2007 6:56 PM To: learningdisabilities at nifl.gov Subject: [LearningDisabilities 1413] Professional Development NeedsAssessment Hi, Adult education teachers and administrators: Have you taken the time to complete the National Institute for Literacy's online professional development survey? If not, there is still time to express your opinion and share your thoughts to help influence decisions that are being made nationally on professional development. The National Institute for Literacy is conducting a survey on the professional development needs of adult education practitioners across the country. We need your help to gather information that reflects your own needs in the area of professional development as well as how you think professional development should be offered. We are asking for only 10-15 minutes of your time. Follow this link to take the survey at http://www.nifl.gov/lincs/needssurvey/. The deadline for the online survey is November 9, 2007. Based on the results of the survey, the Regional Resource Centers and the Institute will review them and make informed decisions on what additional materials and trainings best fall inline with Institute's mandates and priorities, the requirements of the LINCS Regional Resources Centers and practitioner needs. Information collected from the professional development needs survey will be used by the Institute and the LINCS Regional Resource Centers to 1) give us insights on how Institute-produced materials and training can be disseminated and 2) identify areas where the Institute might want to develop additional materials and trainings. The Regional Resource Centers will use the data to develop a regional dissemination plan that will include how to best disseminate and present Institute-sponsored resources and training in partnership with the state organizations. The National Institute for Literacy, a federal agency, provides leadership on literacy issues, including the improvement of reading instruction for children, youth, and adults. In consultation with the U.S. Departments of Education, Labor, and Health and Human Services, the Institute serves as a national resource on current, comprehensive literacy research, practice, and policy. The National Institute for Literacy is committed to the dissemination of high-quality resources to help practitioners use evidence-based instructional practices that improve outcomes in adult learners' literacy skills. LINCS is the backbone of the Institute's dissemination system, providing information on a wide variety of literacy relevant topics, issues, and resources through regional resource centers, collections of resources, and discussion lists. For more information about the National Institute for Literacy and LINCS visit http://www.nifl.gov <http://www.nifl.gov/> . Thank you for participating in the above needs assessment. The topic of Learning Disabilities is a critically important one for professional development, so hearing from subscribers on this national Discussion List will be very helpful in this effort.
