"With documentation" is the barrier here. The cost of testing
(documentation) is not affordable to most adults. Going through the office
of civil rights for assistance if denied is a great suggestion however in my
experience with LD individuals this is also a barrier. They most often need
someone to walk with them through this process.

Subject: [LearningDisabilities 1900] accommodations

In response to my question:
I wonder if adult learners who need accommodations, due to physical,
sensory, cognitive, or psychiatric reasons could "demand" these
accommodations? Does anyone on this list know the answer to this?

The following was posted:

They could probably make formal request with documentation and then go
through the office of civil rights for assistance if denied. I would guess
that many if not most people in Adult Ed program do not have the knowledge
of the system or the resources to complete that process.
