Just like with anything, they're WONDERFUL if they actually use them. I have tried it with a lot of students, but only a few that will really use it. But those few love them and use them all of the time. My instructional assistant got her GED a couple years ago,and she used it while studying for all subjects--She has a reading and writing disability--and she said it was her "lifesaver". I only buy the talking ones--a lot of times the student doesn't know the meaning of the word when they read it, but when they hear it they do.

Subject: [LearningDisabilities 2123] Hand held dictionary
Hello all:
Has anyone had positive experience with a 'talking' hand held electronic dictionary? I have a student who would like to use one when he reads at home and stumbles upon a word he can't 'get.' The web has on-line dictionaries with an audible option, but he does not have a computer.
Thanks in advance!
