This publication: "Literacy in Everyday Life: Results from the National Assessment of Adult Literacy," published by NCES, april 2007, page 30 has a section on Learning Disabilities with statistics and graphs. The report shows how many adults who are learning disabled have literacy difficulties rather than the other way around.

"In 2003, 6% of adults reported that they had been diagnosed or identified as having a learning disability...Among adults who had a learning disability, 24% had Below Basic prose and document literacy, and 38% had Below Basic quantitative literacy."

Have you looked at any of the LindaMood Bell research on their website? They might have some useful facts for your research.

Hello All,
I am working on a project through our LD System Project (LDSI) here in Washington State and wondering if you can help direct me to some stats regarding LD.
I have been looking for information about the suspected number of incarcerated individuals with learning disabilities and the number of adults in adult education with learning disabilities. I have seen some stats quoted however they are not cited. I have the Bridges to Practice fact sheet but these particular numbers are not cited.
I’m wondering if anyone can help me find prevalence of ld in the incarcerated and ABE population.
Thank you,
