The discrepancy criterion is no longer regarded in the field as valid - the
IQ/achievement discrepancy identifies, rathet vaguely, a discrepancy but
does not indicate any reason or likely cause. Very specifically, it does
not indicate a diagnosis of dyslexia. It is not pathognomic any more.
