I'd advise to explore strategies geared toward both children and adults, even if your focus is on adults only, as there are many techniques that are engaged for young learners that you may definitely find applicable to adult learners. Also, there are many literacy-building programs, software, and websites that you may include as part of your programming. Research to find out which of the available curriculae work best for your demographic group and then select a variety that will help to create a well-rounded program. You may also find that you have ideas on developing your own nuances/modifications to an already-existing program which best meet your learners where they are. Some specific programs include the

Hello,
I and another person are planning to open up a literacy center. I wanted to
ask if we needed to be certified teachers to start our literacy center. Also,
how does one go about starting one? Where does one get materials, textbooks,
etc? All advice is appreciated. Thanks.
