I find it ironic that in Mr. MacMonagle's AAACE-NLA real-world post he
uses what is essentially a 5-paragraph essay to seemingly discredit the
real-world usefulness of the 5-paragraph essay. Yet I judge his post to
be coherent, and fairly persuasive. I certainly would not call it a
"flimsy pretext" for a more effective way of addressing persuading his
audience. Would you? Anyway, as an entrenched part of any literacy or
GED program that includes liberation as its purpose, the 5-paragraph
essay, or something a whole lot like it, is well deserving of its long
pedagogical life.
