I am very excited to let everyone know that starting on August 15th, guest facilitators will be hosting a discussion on the state of adult literacy in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. The two year anniversary of this tragic event falls in the end of August, and as we know there is still much that needs to be done to help the residents of New Orleans.
The discussion will include a panel consisting of a representative from the Literacy Alliance of Greater New Orleans, the YMCA Educational Services, the Hispanic Apostolate ESL Program, the now-defunct adult learner leadership group - ALIVE - Adult Learners Initiating Voices for Education, and the UNO Research Center for Multiculturalism and Counseling at University of New Orleans.
More details and information will follow soon. Just wanted to give everyone a "heads up" so that you could start thinking about the topic and any questions that you may want to share during the period of August 15-August 29.
