I was wondering if there is any reaction in adult literacy classrooms about the fact that in Iowa, an African American and a woman took first and third place in a presidential caucus of the Democratic party. Are learners excited about the implications of race and gender? Are they talking about it in classrooms, break rooms, hallways? Is this an issue which is covered in citizenship classes for ESL learners?
