I would like to introduce myself to the group. My name is César Díaz, and I recently accepted a position with Tarrant County College in Fort Worth, Texas. My title is somewhat vague, but I am a Coordinator of Special Projects with the Workforce Services Department and assist in coordinating several Adult Learning Centers in the community. In general, we collaborate with various service providers in the community such as Workforce Solutions, non-profit organizations, faith-based organizations, school districts, universities, and various other community stakeholders and service providers. We offer GED preparation, ESL classes, literacy development, workforce development, and vocational training for the community in hopes of assisting them on the next step in their educational and professional endeavors. I like to think that our mission is to teach people to fish.

I joined the list because so many of those in our community in need are women, minorities, and those in poverty. I hope that this will serve as a forum where I can obtain ideas to better serve our neighbors via our centers as well as contribute to the listserv with information that will assist others in doing the same in their respective missions. Thank you and I eagerly look forward to participating in the discussions.
