On Women's e News, there is an article with the title: Transgender Rights Run Into Bathroom Politics
( http://www.womensenews.org/article.cfm?aid=3577 )
Athough some cities have passed laws prohibiting gender identity discrimination, (such as Phoenix, Atlanta, Louisville, New Orleans, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, Dallas and Buffalo) many transgender people face discrimination because their outward appearance is not consistent with gender stereotypes. One of the problems they face is which bathroom to use. Many places have solved this problem by having one bathroom assigned as a family bathroom or unisex bathroom. For example, more and more universities are beginning to have at least one bathroom in a building assigned as such. I was wondering if any adult literacy programs have begun to think about this issue.
