Ohio ABLE - Curriculum and Training Specialist


The Literacy Center at Ohio University is hiring for the position of
Curriculum and Training Specialist for the Central/Southeast ABLE Resource
Center.

Responsibilities include developing and delivering training as well as
curriculum and support materials to meet identified professional
development needs of ABLE staff.

Training will be developed on an ongoing basis in the following content
areas:

> a.Adult Basic Education

> b.Adult Literacy Services

> c.GED Test Preparation

> d.English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Services

> e.Family, Health, Computer , and Workplace Literacy Services

> f.Learning Disabilities and Other Special Learning Needs Areas

> The Training and Curriculum Specialist will work closely with the Resource

> Specialist to closely integrate resources into all professional

> development

> activities.

>

> Site visits to ABLE programs in the Central/Southeast region are expected.

>

> The person in this position must:

>

> 1.Be sensitive to adult learning principles

> 2.Be fluent in the English language

> 3.Be able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment

> 4.Be a team player and work well with others

> 5.Be able to provide clear and concise information through a variety of

> communication methods

> 6.Keep abreast of the latest trends and issues in the field of Adult

> Basic and

> Literacy Education so that current practice is reflected in training and

> curriculum development.

>

> Candidates must have outstanding leadership, management, and interpersonal

> skills to relate to a wide diversity of staff, students and community

> members.

>

> Minimum Qualifications:

> Bachelor's degree in the field of education or related field . The primary

> focus for this job is to enhance ABLE services through professional

> development; therefore, a basic knowledge of fundamentals in education and

> leaning is essential to the job.

>

> 1.At least 3 years of experience in an education-related field. An

> understanding of principles of education and learning through practical

> experience is necessary to be successful in this job.

>

> 2.At least 1 year of experience is required in the field of adult

> education.

> Adult education is a unique field of education. In order to understand the

> complexities of ABLE services and the skills needed to develop training

> and

> curriculum, some experience in adult education is necessary.

>

> 3.At least 2 years of experience conducting training in an employment

> context.

> Conducting training is a primary job task for this position, there fore,

> it is

> necessary to have some experience delivering work-related training.

> Preferred Qualifications A Master's degree in the area of adult

> education or

> curriculum and instruction is preferred. Coursework in training and

> curriculum

> development is preferred. Experience with special needs populations is

> preferred.

>

> Pay Rate Commensurate with education and experience

>
