[ProfessionalDevelopment 933] A Moderator InviteTaylor, Jackie jataylor at utk.eduWed Mar 21 23:14:06 EDT 2007
Dear Colleagues, I invite you to join Daphne Greenberg (Poverty, Race, Women and Literacy List Moderator), Marie Cora (Assessment List Moderator), and I for an interactive double-session workshop: "Using the National Institute for Literacy's Discussion Lists as Professional Development" Tuesday, March 27 Salon 3 1:45 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. 4:15 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Last year, we led a single-session at COABE about national discussion lists. What we learned from that session is that participants wanted to know: * How can I help my teachers use discussion lists for professional development? * How can I get exposure and interaction via national listservs like I do with my state listserv? * How might we develop a PD management system that includes using national discussion lists as teacher PD? * How might one measure time-on-task for participation in online discussions? * What other ways can teachers use NIFL lists for PD? (archives, search engine for research, etc.) * How might teachers show evidence as to what they learned from the discussion? * What do others do in managing the volumes of email? We've taken these questions to heart, so we've prepared some materials that we hope you find useful. Computer Lab Double Session Part I will teach you how to most effectively interface with the technology so that you learn about and feel more comfortable with using all of the features available to you. Part II focuses on how you can use the Lists as professional development. We will share tools and strategies specifically for NIFL Lists that can help you develop and carry out your own PD plan - for yourself, or for staff. It would be great to connect in-person, so please join us to explore these issues or stop by and say hi! - Jackie Taylor -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
