Hello PD Colleagues,
Thank you to all who have offered recommendations for guest
participants! We are assured to have a wonderful and rich exchange, and
I am counting on your participation to bring forth the open and honest
dialogue surrounding the issues.
Updates:
Expanding to a 2-Part, 2-Week Discussion
Given the broad nature of this topic, I am expanding the discussion to
include two parts: Part I is a "Discussion Primer" (May 7-13) where I
encourage all programs, states, and organizations to share their work in
online professional development. This is an opportunity to create a
national picture of what's happening in online PD; and for those who
seek it, an opportunity to learn of available options. Part II (May
14-21) is the Discussion with Guest Participants.
I've pasted in the draft description below, just FYI. A full
announcement with the list of guests will be posted on Wednesday.
2) Call for Questions
Please send me your questions this week (post to the list or email me
direct). Your questions will help the guests identify the best ways to
meet your needs.
3) Expectations?
As individuals, we sometimes may feel like we should have the answers,
and that might keep us from asking questions. But if we are to benefit
from our collective wisdom I hope we will dialogue about the issues, and
know that it's okay to raise tough questions. We may find we struggle
with similar sorts of things. And if the issues were easily solved, we
would not have an interest in exploring them. :-)
So let's not be too hard on ourselves. Above all, expect to have fun!
That said -- we have some exciting things lining up! Please see
below...Jackie Taylor, jataylor at utk.edu
