MessageHi Barbara,
ESOL programs have been piloting the curriculum. We've asked for feedback on the types of students who are participating and what adaptations might have to be made. As we learn more from teachers and programs, we'll share that information. We consider the curriculum to be flexible, so we will share new activities and materials with participants as they are developed.

Question for Donna and Diane:
For what level(s) is the curriculum most appropriate? Have adaptations been made for English language learners?

Hello Richard,
The Equipped for the Future (EFF) initiative at the Center for Literacy Studies has developed and piloted a new curriculum, Preparing for Work, for youth and adults. The curriculum, comprised of six modules, is based on EFF's business-identified standards for entry-level work readiness. The modules integrate the "soft" skills with academic skills using a blended approach, focusing on specific SCANS tasks while highlighting particular EFF Standards.
The curriculum is available through our professional development sessions. The next national training on this curriculum is scheduled for March 11 - 12 in Nashville, TN.
For more information about either the curriculum or the training, contact Anna Bogle at 865-974-8426 or Diane Gardner at 865-974-9949.

Hello, My name is Richard Drucker. I signed up for the PD discussion group in order to become part of a conversation about Professional Development. I am working with graduating high school seniors who have learning disabilities, helping them find employment. I am interested in professional development in Youth Development and Workforce Development, and want to learn more about Quality Standards in these areas. I look forward to being part of the group.
