TITLE - Building a Professional Development System: Integrating Policies,
Standards & Technology

Preconference description: Participants will expand on a shared vision for
AALPD's role in professional development (PD) by building on AALPD
visioning discussions, exploring Professional Development Quality
Standards; collaborating with the Adult Literacy Technology Network (ALTN)
in using technology that supports standards-based professional development,
and strategically planning for AALPD's future in moving the vision forward.

During this full-day preconference participants will:
1. Get an overview of national PD initiatives in adult ed.
2. Discuss a vision for building a PD system framed by policies and
standards.
3. Discuss strategies for implementing PD standards.
4. Become familiar with various technology formats that can support PD
delivery (this done in collaboration with the Adult Literacy Technology
Network - ALTN).
5. Assist AALPD in planning the future of PD in our field.
