====== UPDATE from American Institutes for Research (AIR) ======
April 12--The Committee on Performance Levels for Adult Literacy of the National Research Council released their interim report this morning. This report details the work and findings on performance levels for adult literacy. The Committee on Performance Levels that was established in response to the US Department of Education's request, was charged to:
1. Review and evaluate the procedures for determining the performance levels for the 1992 NALS and
2. Recommend a set of performance levels for the 2003 National Assessment of Adult Literacy (NAAL) that are appropriate and allow comparisons between the two assessments.
