[SpecialTopics 1415] Re: No mentoring in Adult Literacy?

My perception as I first became responsible for an adult education
program was one of not being mentored by a single individual but of
being embraced and supported by a genuine group of colleagues from other
institutions and agencies. The combination of quarterly meetings
bringing together adult education leaders from around the state, an
active listserv amongst adult education leaders, and a smaller regional
group that meets regularly had perhaps more impact than a single mentor
might have had because of the diversity of perspectives shared with me.

Colleagues,

I am disappointed at the poor response to these two questions about
mentoring. Perhaps you have meant to reply but have put it off. Don't
delay much longer. This discussion ends tomorrow, Tuesday, September
29th.

* Have you been formally or informally mentored by an experienced
adult education leader? If so, was that a positive experience? If so,
what made it especially beneficial?

* Have you mentored a potential adult literacy education leader? If
so, was that a positive experience? If so, what do you think was
especially effective?
