[Technology] If only...Steve Quann steve_quann at worlded.orgWed Feb 22 12:20:27 EST 2006
Hi all, I don't want to preempt the upcoming discussion but this article a colleague just shared with me will only be available to non-subscribers for a few more days. I think it might relate to the discussion topic, but I would have sent it anyway. It seems to me that, *in my dreams*, this technology could help our adult students, especially in relation to issues of persistence and retention, as well as offering an alternative to those on wait lists. This article, "Mightier Than the Pen Alone" is available online at this address: http://chronicle.com/temp/email2.php?id=kDDNXhsCtcVzfjvq2fgRWsSV4mjBpKvX This article will be available to non-subscribers of The Chronicle for up to five days after it is e-mailed. The article is always available to Chronicle subscribers at this address: http://chronicle.com/weekly/v52/i25/25a03101.htm Regards, Steve Quann NCSALL, NCTN, and NELRC At World Education 44 Farnsworth Street Boston, MA 617.482.9485 >>> mariannf at lacnyc.org 02/21 2:48 PM >>> Hello NIFL Technology colleagues, Next week from Tuesday, February 28th through Friday March 3rd David Collings, Technology Coordinator for the Adult and Community Education Network in Delaware, and Alex Quinn, Executive Director of the Adult Literacy Media Alliance (ALMA), will join the NIFL Technology list as guests to lead a discussion on current and emerging uses of media in adult ed. instruction in the classroom and at a distance. Audio and video resources have been used in adult education instruction for many years, but the introduction of CDs, DVDs, the Internet, and other electronic technologies has greatly expanded their availability. Some of the areas they will cover on this topic include: teacher training, technical support for teachers and learners, the challenges of their use, media distribution, and emerging uses and tools foor delivery of media. So if you are interested in media literacy, muti-media products, cutting edge technology and distance learning this will be of interest to you. As with past discussions your questions, contributions and professional wisdom will make this a great learning experience for everyone on the list. If you have any questions about the discussion please don't hesitate to get in touch.
