[Technology 750] Questions about Kurzweil - Request for FeedbackKatherine fergus at ohio.eduWed Dec 13 13:01:50 EST 2006
Hi everyone! My name is Kate Fergus and I am the Resource Specialist at the Central/Southeast ABLE Resource Center at Ohio University. Part of my job is to explore new technologies and introduce them to our many adult education programs. (This listserv has been an amazing resource!!) I also help to support educators, administrators and librarians. And that's where my story begins... A very industrious Reference Librarian at Ohio University's Alden Library came to me recently with a request for assistance. Mr. Chris Guder is creating interactive training modules that guide individuals through the sometimes daunting task of learning how to use certain software applications. He has already completed a module for Duxbury Translation software that will be on-line shortly. His newest endeavor is to create a similar interactive training module for Kurzweil 3000. Those who are familiar with the Kurzweil program know that it is enormously useful when working with students experiencing difficulty in reading and writing. It is also very comprehensive and requires a good deal of training before mastery of the application can be attained. To create a training module that covers all the aspects of Kurzweil is not practical as far as time is concerned. So here are our questions to you for your consideration: 1. Which elements of Kurzweil 3000 do you consider the most useful and would like to see covered in a training module? 2. Which elements of Kurzweil 3000 are the most frequently used by you and/or your students? 3. Which elements of Kurzweil 3000 are the most challenging and/or difficult to understand and master? Please consider these questions and get back to us with your valuable insights. To anyone that helps us with feedback, you will receive a complementary trial edition of Kurzweil 3000 along with some other goodies they sent me after I spoke with them. I look forward to hearing from you all! Any questions? Concerns? Contact me at fergus at ohio.edu or Chris Guder at guder at ohio.edu. We thank you in advance for your feedback!
