Since the list has recently been discussing aspects of Universal Design
for Learning, I thought I would share the following resource with the
list. It deals with math literacy rather than language, but when one
considers the mechanics involved in decoding and understanding the
meaning of a math equation, the connection with reading literacy is
quite apparent. It is an article which was written last summer and
posted to the Design Science website, but I suspect most people have not
seen it before. Since there are not many articles available on this
issue, I would imagine that a good number of people will find it useful.
Among other things, it mentions the connection of math literacy with
learning disabilities, as well as issues like accessible math within
NIMAS.

I hope people on this list will find this article valuable.
