<p class=MsoPlainText><font size=2 face=Rockwell><span style='font-size:11.0pt'>I
just wanted to write a few words to introduce myself. I currently work at the <st1:PlaceName
w:st="on">Literacy</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Assistance</st1:PlaceName>
<st1:PlaceType w:st="on">Center</st1:PlaceType> in <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City
w:st="on">New York City</st1:City></st1:place>. I work mostly with a web-based
data base used by all adult education programs funded by the New York Sate Education
Department to track their National Reporting System data. My primary responsibilities
are to develop and provide trainings for program staff and also provide
technical support. But my background is in ESOL having been a teacher in a
small community based organization in Bensonhurst, <st1:place w:st="on">Brooklyn</st1:place>
for several years and then a program manger at the same place. During my time
there we went from having a single computer in our office to having three staff
computers and access to a 20 station computer lab. Mobile phones and iPods
were just beginning to show up and there was limited awareness that all this
technology could have such a profound impact on the way we learn and teach each
other. <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

four wonderful years of moderating the NIFL Technology and Literacy Discussion
list I will be passing the baton in to the very capable hands of my long time
colleague and Tech list subscriber, Nell Eckersley of the <st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Literacy</st1:PlaceName>
<st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Assistance</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType w:st="on">Center</st1:PlaceType>
in <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">New York City</st1:place></st1:City>. Nell has
a tremendous body of experience both as an adult ed. instructor and program
manager and a leader in instructional technology, data systems, and the
development of virtual learning spaces. I have made the choice to pass on the
moderation duties of the Tech list as I have recently accepted a position
with the American Institutes for Research (www.air.org) as Director of the
California Adult Literacy Professional Development Project
(http://www.calpro-online.com) and would like to give 100% of my time and
attention to this tremendous project. I will look forward to meeting those of
you on the list who live and work in <st1:State w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">California</st1:place></st1:State>
over the upcoming months! <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

with all of you for the past four years has been a distinct honor and true
pleasure. The intellect, passion and creativity possessed by the Tech list
