[NIFL-WORKPLACE] Assessment toolsVarshna Narumanchi-Jackson varshna at grandecom.netTue Feb 15 20:22:43 EST 2005
Assessment varies greatly from state to state, but I believe that it is considered an intensive service under WIA. Self-administered vocational interest assessments are freely available. There are a number of computer-based assessments that a jobseeker has access to without necessarily being enrolled in WIA. This may be dependent, I think, on a workforce center contractor's skill and experience with selecting and making these assessments available. Several states have moved/are moving towards a 'work readiness' credential that is a basic skills assessment. Unless the job description requires an assessment of a skill that is tied to a job function (e.g., typing test for administrative positions), I wonder what kind of assessment you might think is appropriate. Thanks, Varshna.
