Folks-- I've got a doc student who is about to move forward with the dissertation. At this time she is casting the net trying to find articles dealing with teenage pregnancy and/or motherhood and various aspects of literacy motivation. Since she is still early in her literature search, she has yet to fully narrow down the question. Would you please look at the broadened query, and then, if you know any important text that nails any particular part of it, would you be so kind as to share that info directly with the student (Heidi Davey) at hdavey at d211.org or with me (stahl at niu.edu). There is no need to post to the entire listserv. The Query-- What are the relationships between teenage pregnancy and/or motherhood and various aspects of literacy motivation including intrinsic/extrinsic motivation, goal orientation, interest (personal or situational), autonomy, helplessness, and self-regulation? How do these relationships impact academic and social success in terms of attendance, graduation, or employability? (Sorry if you got this as a double posting.) Thank you---- Norman A.
