National Dissemination Center for Career and Technical Education The Ohio State University Columbus, Ohio 43210-1090 For Immediate Release Webcast Addresses New Career Development Guidelines The National Dissemination Center for Career and Technical Education will present a webcast entitled "Career Development Guidelines" on Thursday, March 16, 2006, from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. EST. This interactive event, and previous webcasts, can be viewed on any computer with Internet access at <http://www.nccte.org>. The new National Career Development Guidelines (NCDG) provides a framework and applications for career counseling and development KAdult. This webcast provides an overview of the guidelines and the new Web-based materials created for high school and middle school students, parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators. Further, it will explore how the guidelines support the tenets of No Child Left Behind and how career development activities can be aligned with academic standards. Linda Kobylarz is a career development consultant providing program design and implementation, staff development, program evaluation, and research services to schools, federal and state agencies, and businesses. She was recently appointed lead consultant for the NCDG Revision Project funded by the U.S. Department of Education. She has extensive experience working with schools to design comprehensive career development curricula. She was a contributing author for: The National Career Development Guidelines Adult Handbook; Managing Your School Counseling Program: K-12 Developmental Strategies; School Counseling: New Perspectives & Practices; and Career Pathways: Education With a Purpose. Kobylarz was the 2004 president of the Connecticut Counseling Association (CCA) and has served on the Board of Directors for the National Career Development Association (NCDA) and the National Employment Counselors Association (NECA). She was recipient of CCA's Professional Development Award in 2003 and NCDA's Outstanding Career Practitioner Award in 2001. Kobylarz has a bachelor's degree in education (history) from Central Connecticut State University, New Britain, CT and a master's degree in Counseling from the University of Hartford, Hartford, CT.
